Ocean Network Express (ONE) recently announced the launch of two new shipping routes and the inclusion of Argentina’s TecPlata Port, operated by ICTSI, into its port rotation network. This strategic move aims to strengthen connectivity between Argentine ports and Asian markets while enhancing shipping efficiency along the East Coast of South America to the Far East.
Under the new plan, ONE’s Buenos Aires port has been integrated into the newly established East Coast South America Express 2 (SX2) route, which connects key Far Eastern ports with major hubs on South America’s East Coast. Meanwhile, TecPlata Port will link to the SX2 route via the River Plate Express (RPX) feeder service, further boosting coordination among ports in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil.
The RPX service is set to commence in May 2024. TecPlata CEO Juan Pablo Trujillo remarked, "TecPlata’s inclusion in this Asia-bound route underscores its leadership in Argentina’s port industry. Leveraging advanced technology, operational excellence, and sustainable practices, we are poised to deliver superior service to clients."
Route Details:
- SX2 Route (East Coast South America Express 2):
- Busan – South China – Singapore – Rio Grande – Santos – Santa Catarina – Singapore – Hong Kong – Busan
- RPX Route (River Plate Feeder Service):
- Rio Grande – Argentina – Uruguay – Rio Grande
This expansion highlights TecPlata Port’s growing significance in global shipping networks. The SX2 route not only streamlines logistics between South America’s East Coast and Asia but also provides Argentine exporters with faster maritime access.
Industry experts note that amid intensifying competition in international shipping, carriers like ONE are optimizing route networks to boost efficiency and meet market demands. By expanding its Asia-South America corridor, ONE solidifies its influence in the region while offering clients more agile and cost-effective logistics solutions.
