It has recently been announced that seven Asian liner companies have joined forces to launch a new container shipping route between China and Mexico, one of the fastest-growing shipping lanes.
The new service will be jointly operated by China COSCO Shipping, Taiwan’s TS Lines, Singapore's SeaLead Shipping, UAE's ESL, Thailand's RCL, Korea's KMTC Line, and Sinokor Merchant Marine, with the inaugural voyage scheduled to depart from Shanghai on April 30.
The new route will operate on a Shanghai-Qingdao-Busan-Mexico (Manzanillo) rotation, enhancing the connectivity between China, South Korea, and Mexico, and supporting the growing logistics demand between Asia and Latin America.
"This will be a new service connecting China and South Korea to Mexico, and it is the first service for RCL to expand its coverage into Latin America. This strategic move marks RCL’s entry into the growing Mexican market, enabling the company to offer reliable transportation solutions to an ever-expanding customer base," commented RCL.
The route will take 23-25 days from China to Mexico's Manzanillo Port, and 21 days from Busan to Manzanillo Port.
Each carrier plans to deploy one vessel on the route.
