The Port of Chittagong is set for a significant upgrade! RSGT Bangladesh, as the first private container terminal in Bangladesh, has announced an investment of over $25 million to introduce 14 advanced hybrid rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTGs), injecting new vitality into Bangladesh's logistics supply chain.
These RTG cranes, manufactured by GENMA-KALMAR in Taicang, China, utilize battery hybrid power technology, significantly reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional diesel-powered cranes.
Moreover, these cranes are equipped with top-tier safety designs, ergonomic operating functions, and intelligent operating systems, comprehensively enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
In December 2023, RSGT Bangladesh signed a 22-year concession agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), becoming the first foreign port operator in Bangladesh.
In June 2024, the newly built terminal facilities welcomed the first vessel's berthing, currently with an annual handling capacity of 250,000 TEUs, and plans to expand to 450,000 TEUs after a full upgrade.
RSGT Bangladesh not only brings advanced equipment and technology to the Port of Chittagong but is also working hard to build modern and sustainable logistics infrastructure.
