On December 12, CMA Terminals Khalifa Port officially commenced operations in a ceremony attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council. With a total investment of AED 3.1 billion (approximately USD 845 million), the container terminal is jointly managed by CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group (70% stake), and Abu Dhabi Ports Group (30% stake).

CMA Terminals Khalifa Port boasts an annual handling capacity of 1.8 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Features include automated gates, integrated systems, shore power connections to reduce emissions, and extensive solar panel installations to support energy needs. The terminal houses eight advanced STS cranes, 20 e-RTG cranes, and the region's first net-zero carbon administration building powered by renewable energy. This building received the "Net Zero Building Project of the Year" award at the Middle East and North Africa Green Building Awards in 2022. Additionally, the terminal is equipped with rail connectivity.

The addition of CMA Terminals Khalifa Port has increased Khalifa Port's annual container throughput by 23%, bringing it to nearly 10 million TEUs.

This new terminal is a significant collaboration between the CMA CGM Group and Abu Dhabi Ports Group. Its inauguration marks a major step in CMA CGM's logistics network expansion in the Middle East. It provides a new regional hub for CMA CGM, supporting business growth in Abu Dhabi and across South Asia, West Asia, East Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. Furthermore, it strengthens Khalifa Port's position as a key regional trade hub.
